JEMPOL: Teenager Wan Muhammad Hazim Wan Mohd Fauzi of Putrajaya is trying hard to get over the shock of losing his parents and four siblings in a road accident here on Sunday.
The 19-year-old was at the Jempol Hospital mortuary to claim the bodies, said the police informed him about the accident at about 6pm at his family home in Putrajaya.
“The policeman only said that my father was involved in an accident, but didn’t tell me about the rest of my family. I only found out about the rest when I heard the news a little later,” said Wan Muhammad, who is the second of five siblings.
Eight people were killed in the accident involving four vehicles at KM25 of Jalan Bahau-Keratong at 2.20pm on Sunday, including Wan Muhammad Hazim’s parents – Wan Mohd Fauzi Wan Ibrahim, 51, and Mas Noraida M Yusoff, 45, – and his siblings Wan Muhammad Muhaimmin, 21; Wan Nor Athira, 18; Wan Muhamad Amar Haziq, 13; and Wan Nur Aiesya, seven. They were travelling in a Proton Exora MPV.
The crash involved a trailer, a Perodua car and a Toyota.
The two others who died in the incident were the driver of the Perodua car, Osman Mohamed Taip, 31, and his wife Rosniza Othman, while the couple’s son, whose identity has yet to be verified, was injured and sent to the Kuala Pilah Hospital.
Wan Muhamad Hazim said his father had asked him twice to join the family to send his sister Wan Nor Athira to the Kuantan Vocational College in Pahang. However, he declined as he had to work.
He said the bodies would be taken to Jelawat and Pasir Mas, Kelantan, for burial.
Meanwhile, Mas Noraida’s sister Massuhailayante M Yusoff, 43, said she last met her elder sibling on Friday.
“We had all taken leave for a week to care for our mother in Kelantan,” she said. Massuhailayante said she only learned of the tragic news at 9.45 pm Sunday.
“However, we have not informed our mother about it yet,” she said. – Bernama
