KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) is ready to contest and win in their seven traditional parliamentary seats in Sarawak at the coming 15th general election (GE15).

The seven parliamentary seats are Stampin, Bandar Kuching, Serian, Sarikei, Sibu, Lanang and Miri.

SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said this includes their deputy president, Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, who is ever ready for the election.

“With the constant gaduh-gaduh (quarrelling) in Malaya, it would not be a surprise if GE15 will be this year.

“SUPP is ready for our seven traditional parliamentary seats in Sarawak,” he stressed during the 27th SUPP Triennial Delegates Conference at SUPP headquarters here on Saturday.

Dr Sim said all the SUPP assemblyman had been on the ground since winning the election on 18 December, last year.

“Every month, I am doing my best on the ground with the six new SUPP assemblymen in their respective constituency as a vote for each one of them is a vote for Dr Sim,” he added.

Dr Sim who is also a Deputy Premier mentioned that GE15 was crucial for Sarawak to successfully acquire its eroded rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“SUPP has been raising Sarawak’s rights in Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) since 2013 and we are in the final stretch of getting them back,” he pointed out.

Earlier, Dr Sim thanked Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) for their 52 years of partnership in governing Sarawak since 1970.

“PBB and SUPP are good partners throughout the good time, the bad time, the testing time such as 1987 for PBB and SUPP in 2013-2015, the challenging time but most importantly a reliable and loyal partner with over 50 years of proven history and records.

December 18, 2021 is a testimonial of what we can do together for Sarawak,” he said, alluding to the last state election.

On the TDC, Dr Sim said the party had a smooth transition of 50 branches with a good mix of new and veteran branch leaders.

“Be it new or veteran leadership, new or old party members, we are still having the same dreams and aspirations of our founding fathers 63 years ago for the people of Sarawak – Sarawak for Sarawakian,” Dr Sim said.
