Where tourism is booming

BAU: Since the reopening of the borders on April 1, international and local tourists have been visiting places of interest in Sarawak.

An observation made at Bau Town here found that the tourism industry was booming.

Wong, 55, from Jakarta, Indonesia, was here on her first visit to the state.

“I’m on a three -day/ two-night trip with my husband. We have been planning to visit Sarawak for quite some time now and this is my second day here,” she told New Sarawak Tribune.

When asked about her next stop after visiting the Buddhist Shrine Bau Limestone Cave, she said she planned to visit Tasik Biru and other places as well.

Wong also pointed out that she has tried many local delicacies during her stay here.

“The food here is very delicious and cheap. I’m enjoying my trip so far and try to visit as many places as possible before we go back,” she added.

Meanwhile, a local visitor, Sharon Eugena, 24, shared she had never been to Tasik Biru or other places of attractions in the town such as the Roxy Hotel, boat cruises and many others.

Sharon noticed improvements such as more parking spaces and businesses such as food and beverage stalls here

“There are several activities that you can do here such as boarding a cruise boat and dining at Roxy Hotel.

“I had the opportunity to paddle a boat manually as well. Admission fees are also affordable,” she added.

Sharon said she was supporting tourism in the town.
