KUCHING: Sarawakians have been urged to stay vigilant against the COVID-19 as the country is in the transition to the endemic phase.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said everyone must continue to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), including social distancing, using a face mask and maintaining good hygiene at all times.

“A month of fasting in the month of Ramadan has definitely taught us to be more disciplined and responsible. Let us set a good example in all aspects of life and become a person with high moral values,” he said in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri message.

Taib also called upon the people to preserve and strengthen the spirit of unity that has been established for a long time.

He said Sarawak will be able to move forward and progress when its people are strongly united.

“Maintain an attitude of mutual understanding and mutual respect so that the people can live in harmony, peace and a prosperous state,” he said.

In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, he also reminded the people not to forget the opportunity to forgive and enjoy the celebration with their family and friends.

“Getting together once a year can definitely strengthen the ties, friendship, and spread love among each other.

“Finally, my wife and family, and I wish all the people of Sarawak ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir dan Batin’,” he added.
