KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) victory in the 12th state election is a clear indication that the people want political stability in this nation, says Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) thanked all voters who came out to vote on polling day and who had trusted GPS to continue to lead Sarawak.

“Congratulations to GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on his leadership and the entire machinery that worked hard day and night to ensure GPS’ victory.

“Congratulations to GPS and thank you to all the people of Sarawak for the trust given to us,” said the Santubong MP in a Facebook post on Sunday (Dec 19).

Meanwhile, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women vice-chief Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said GPS’ huge win was a yardstick that the people of Sarawak are confident in the authority and credibility of GPS as the ruling party which has shown its determination in bringing progress to all its people.

She said the planned and implemented holistic development had benefitted the economic generation of the people, contributing to a better standard of living.

“Congratulations to Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who received a big mandate from the people of this state as the chief minister of Sarawak.

“Congratulations also to all GPS candidates who had delivered the best and sincere service to the people during their tenure as elected representatives in their respective constituencies until they gained the trust to continue serving. Well done!” said the federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister in a statement.

Nancy, who is also Batang Sadong MP, also congratulated the voters who had given a win to GPS as well as the machinery and party staff members who had worked hard to ensure GPS’ victory.
