MIRI: Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting, who visited an air-raid shelter, believed to have been used by the Japanese army during World War II (WWII) said it can be a tourist attraction but it needs preservation works to be done before one can safely go in.

Ting said the priority is the people’s safety and said the site should be sealed for an investigation to be carried out by the Sarawak Museum Department before it can be marketed as a tourist destination.

The site is around 100m away from the Bomba at Jalan Miri-Pujut and cab accommodate 25 people at one time.
