SIBU: Although it is adamant to have its eroded rights restored by the federal government, Sarawak is not keen to be involved in a protracted confrontation over the rights.

Citing the State Sales Tax (SST) dispute with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) as an example, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg stressed that a ‘win-win’ solution must be sought at all times.

“Petronas now had given its commitment to settle the five percent SST to the state government and recognise the rights of Sarawak to impose the sales tax.
