RM233,800 to solve traffic jam problem in Miri


MIRI: A total cost of RM233,800 has solved the traffic jam problem, a project under Rural Transformation project which is expected to be completed in two months, said Piasau State Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting.

Ting who is also Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting said the 225-meter expansion project included a pedestrian lane and he said the widening was done after getting feedbacks from the people who complained about the traffic jam during peak hours.

The road is also the route to Sekolah Pendidkan Khas, SMK Dato Oermaisuri and SK Anchi. The widening of the road will be done on both side of the lane to have a smoother flow of traffic and also to allow cars to be parked temporarily at the roadside when parents are sending and picking up their children.

He urged both the federal and state governments to allocate more money to implement similar projects here for the benefit of Sarawakians.Also at the function was Mayor Adam Yii and contractors during a visit to the site recently.
