KUCHING: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sarawak has lauded the State 2020 Budget tabled by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg recently.

Its president Jaziri Alkaf A Suffian said despite the difference in politics, Sarawak PPBM supported any efforts that involved the wellbeing and sustainability of Sarawak and its people.

“Sarawak PPBM said the budget is a balanced one…which can be seen with the allocation of RM6.597bil for development compared to an allocation of RM3.294bil for operation,” he said.

He said any budget that was more towards development compared to operation was a healthy budget because development involved infusion, which could increase productivity and stimulate economic growth.

“The emphasis on bridging the urban and rural development gap where RM4.13bil, that is 63 percent of the total development budget, is allocated for rural areas is very appropriate indeed,” he said.

“We feel the struggles of the rural communities. Our purpose is to empower the communities and strengthen the economy. We have similar inspiration towards the betterment of all rakyat Sarawak,” he pointed out.
