KUCHING: Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has denied any knowledge of an impending state Cabinet reshuffle.

“I don’t know!” said the Chief Minister when reporters asked about a rumoured Cabinet reshuffle soon, yesterday.

Abang Johari denied the speculation after his Hari Raya Aidilfitri visit to Deputy State Secretary Datuk Mohammad Abu Bakar Marzuki’s house at Kampung Siol Kandis in Petra Jaya here.

Expressing his dismay at the recent controversy, Abang Johari said, “How can I address this (rumour) when I myself do not know.”

He continued, “The report came from them (insider), so you should ask them-lah.”

Yesterday, a local Chinese language newspaper reported that there will be a Cabinet reshuffle on June 26.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Dr James Jemut Masing had expressed his hope for the “right people to fill the right positions” in the coming state Cabinet reshuffle.

Masing claimed that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) houses some “enemies” in the coalition but declined to name any names.

He hoped that there would be right lawmakers to fill in the correct portfolios in the coming reshuffle.

“This includes only members of GPS who should be in the cabinet. Outsiders who have no heart and sincerity have no place in the coalition administration.

“We don’t want to have ‘musuh dalam selimut’ (enemies from within),” said Masing.

Accompanying Abang Johari during the visit were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain.

“The report came from them (insider), so you should ask them-lah.”
