KUCHING: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah will be making a two-day working visit to Kuching on April 25-26.

A statement from Sarawak Public Communication Unit, Chief Minister’s Department said their Majesties arrival will be welcomed by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Raghad Kurdi Taib, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg and wife, Datin Patinggi Dato Hajah Jumaa’ni Tun Tuanku Bujang, cabinet ministers, heads of government departments and community leaders at the Kuching International Airport in the morning of April 25.

In the afternoon, the King and the queen will visit nearby tourist spots namely the India Street Pedestrian Mall and the Kuching Waterfront.

Then in the evening, Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong will attend a dinner reception with Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib at a leading hotel.

Chief Minister and wife, Datin Patinggi Dato Jumaa’ni, members of the state cabinet and other distinguished guests will also be present.

Soon after the dinner, the royal couple will witness the musical water fountain at the Kuching Waterfront.

The next morning, His Majesty to be accompanied by Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib are scheduled to attend a briefing at the State Islamic Council and also to present letters of appointment to the council members.

After that, the King will proceed to Masjid Darul Hana to perform the Friday prayer with the local Muslim community.

Meanwhile at the same time, the Queen will have a separate event at the Old Kuching Courthouse where she will be accompanied by the Chief Minister’s wife to visit Ranee Brooke Museum, a handicraft exhibition and to witness a cooking demonsration on traditional food.

Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong will depart for Kuala Lumpur later in the afternoon.
