SIBU: Sibu Division Resident Charles Siaw called on state and federal civil servants to always cooperate in providing the best services to the community.

He said regardless of which agency or department they represented, as public servants, the spirit of cooperation, tolerance and mutual respect should be nurtured.

“In the meantime, department heads should also give encouragement and motivation among civil servants to improve quality and productivity in services,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the Chinese New Year celebration with Civil Servants in Sibu organised by Sibu Division Resident at the Sibu Islamic Complex Hall here on Thursday night.

Also present were Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King, Temenggung Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming, Temenggung Stanley Geramong, Pemanca James Semilan and Pemanca Datuk Wong Kie Yik.

He also said that the nurturing of the culture to continuously improve is necessary to ensure civil servants are more committed, responsible, dynamic and dedicated.

“In addition, the nurturing of harmonious atmosphere in the workplace is important to improve the environment and a healthy environment,” he added.

Thus, the participation of civil servants in the Chinese New Year’s celebration not only provided the opportunity for civil servants to become acquainted with each other, but also for them to have the opportunity to mingle and strengthen their friendship, he said.

“The event also embraces the concept of mutual cooperation with each department to provide food and drinks and share it together.”

“This concept instills a spirit in the department in ensuring that the council runs smoothly and is implemented more effectively,” he said.
