KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak has congratulated and thanked all the country’s athletes for contributing medals and competing in the name of Malaysia at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
“The Malaysia Contingent #GC2018 with 7 gold, surpassed target! Congratulations and thank you to all the country’s athletes who contributed medals and also competed in the name of Malaysia, our country’s heroes and heroines!,” he said in a posting on his Twitter site last night.
After completing 11 days of competition at the championship, our national contingent collected seven gold, five silver and 12 bronze medals to take the 12th overall place.
Hosts, Australia emerged as the champions with 80 gold, 59 silver and 59 bronze medals followed by England with 45 gold, 45 silver and 46 bronze while India were in third place with 26 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze medals.–BERNAMA
