YAN: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom hopes the tabling of the 2018 Budget by Prime Minister Najib Razak on Friday will touch on matters to empower the Shariah Court and religious institutions nationwide.
He also hoped the government would continue to provide assistance to civil servants by revising their salaries besides upgrading Shariah Court buildings to provide a conducive place for staff to serve the people.
“I place my hopes and dreams that soon (the government) will provide several aid facilities to civil servants nationwide.
“Most essentially, I wish to see Shariah Courts and religious institutions empowered especially in the context of buildings and salary,” he told reporters at an event to fete the officers and staff of the Yan District Office, who won the national level ‘Keceriaan Negaraku’ competition here yesterday.
Nevertheless, Jamil Khir said any decision was up to the prime minister, taking into account the government’s current financial standing. – Bernama
