BESUT: Police detained 11 youths found to be high on drugs during a party at a homestay in Kampung Gong Kepas near Kampung Raja here on Tuesday.
Besut district police chief Supt Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said a police team from the Besut district narcotics division raided the homestay after receiving reports on the drug party from the public.
He said police had to pry open the door before entering the premises and arresting all the suspects, aged between 17 and 22 years.
Various types of drugs, including Eramin 5 pills, ecstasy tablets and small pieces of Yaba pills were found in the toilet of the homestay, he told a press conference here today.
Also seized from the youngsters were metal cutters and other tools used to steal motorcycles, a machete, a music player and a disco lamp.
He said four of those arrested were Form Five students of a secondary school in Alor Lintang here, and only one person had tested negative for drugs, while the others tested positive for methamphetamine.
According to Zamri, preliminary investigations showed that the youths rented the homestay for RM180 per day.
“Two of the youths, aged 27 and 22, with four and five previous drug records were masterminds at holding drug parties,” he said.
All the suspects were remanded for four days from Tuesday. Bernama
